Vetting standards
What every locksmith must satisfy
No locksmith works under our name until all four are evidenced, and we re-verify at least once a year.
UK registered business
Every locksmith must be a UK registered business with public liability insurance, in the name of the business attending your vehicle. We hold a copy on file and re-check it at renewal.
Public liability insurance
Each partner carries liability insurance covering damage to a customer vehicle or property while working on it. Cover must be live before any job is assigned, and lapsed cover suspends a partner immediately.
Background checked technicians
Technicians who attend jobs provide an enhanced DBS check, plus photo ID verification. We do not assign work to unnamed or unverified technicians.
Competence and equipment
Partners demonstrate the diagnostic and key programming equipment they own, with licensed software, and show experience on the marques they accept work for. Jobs are only assigned to a partner equipped for that vehicle.
Who you are contracting with
CarKeys Near Me takes your call, confirms the work and the price, and the job is then carried out by an independent insured and DBS checked auto locksmith from our Essex network under our standards. We remain your single point of contact throughout. The attending locksmith is an independent, insured business that is responsible for the work performed, the parts fitted and the conduct of its technician on site.

How a job is assigned
- You describe the vehicle, the fault and where the car is. We confirm the work needed.
- We quote a fixed price for that work and confirm it with you before anyone sets off.
- The job goes to the nearest locksmith on shift who is equipped for your marque.
- You receive the locksmith's name and an arrival window. Ownership documents are checked on arrival.
- The work is completed at your car, payment is taken on site and the warranty is issued in writing.
Ongoing monitoring
- Licence and insurance documents are re-checked at each renewal date, and expiry suspends new job assignments.
- Every completed job is followed by a customer check so quality problems surface quickly.
- Complaints are logged against the partner. Repeated or serious issues remove them from the network.
- Partners must confirm proof of ownership was verified before work started on every job.
