1. About these terms

These terms apply between Sole trader, trading as CarKeys Near Me ("we", "us"), and the person requesting an auto locksmith ("you"). By calling 07576 937247, messaging us on WhatsApp or submitting an enquiry, you accept these terms.

2. What we do, and what we do not do

CarKeys Near Me takes your call, confirms the work and the price, and the job is then carried out by an independent insured and DBS checked auto locksmith from our Essex network under our standards. We remain your single point of contact throughout. We are not the locksmith who attends your vehicle. The attending locksmith is an independent business, insured in its own name, and it is responsible for the workmanship, parts and conduct on site.

  • We take your details, confirm the work required and agree the price with you.
  • We assign the job to a locksmith in our network who meets the standards on our locksmith standards page.
  • We stay contactable throughout the job and handle any complaint you raise with us.
  • We do not carry out the physical work, and we are not the manufacturer or dealer of any key, remote or part supplied.

3. Quotes and pricing

Prices quoted on the phone or by message are based on the vehicle make, model, year and problem you describe. The quoted price is held provided the information you gave is accurate and the vehicle is accessible as described.

  • If the vehicle differs from what was described, or additional faults are found, the locksmith will stop and agree any revised price with you before continuing.
  • Any price ranges shown on this website are indicative guidance, not an offer. Your price is the one confirmed for your job.
  • Payment is due to the attending locksmith on completion, by the methods they accept.
  • Prices include VAT where it applies.

4. Proof of ownership

Before a vehicle is opened, keyed or programmed you must show the V5C logbook and photo ID such as a driving licence or passport, and be the owner or able to show the owner's authority. If ownership cannot be established the job will be declined. This applies without exception and protects every vehicle owner in Essex.

5. Response times

Any arrival window we give is an estimate based on the locksmith's location, traffic and access to your vehicle. We keep you updated if it changes. Estimated arrival windows are not guarantees and we are not liable for consequential losses caused by a delay, such as missed appointments or flights.

6. Cancellation

You can cancel free of charge at any time before a locksmith sets off for your vehicle. Once a locksmith is travelling to you, a reasonable attendance charge may apply if you cancel or are not present, and that charge will be told to you before it is applied.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you normally have 14 days to cancel a service booked at a distance without giving a reason. Because our service is an emergency callout, if you ask us to begin work immediately and before the 14 day period ends, you agree that the cancellation period no longer applies once the work is complete, and you remain responsible for paying for the work carried out.

7. Warranty

Keys, remotes and programming work carry a warranty provided by the locksmith who carried out the work, confirmed to you in writing after the job. Warranty covers faults in the part supplied or the programming performed. It does not cover loss, physical damage, water damage, battery depletion, or faults caused by later work carried out by someone else.

If a warranty issue arises, contact us on 07576 937247 or complaints@carkeysnearme.co.uk and we will arrange for it to be put right by the responsible locksmith.

8. Liability

The attending locksmith holds its own liability insurance and is responsible for loss or damage caused by its work. Our own liability to you for our part in the arrangement, namely taking your booking, quoting and assigning the job, is limited to the amount you paid for the job in question, except where liability cannot be limited by law, including death, personal injury or fraud. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Neither we nor the attending locksmith are liable for pre-existing faults in locks, ignitions or electronics, or for the consequences of items left inside a locked vehicle.

9. Your obligations

  • Give accurate vehicle and location information.
  • Be present with your documents when the locksmith arrives, or arrange an authorised person to be.
  • Tell us about prior key, ignition or electrical work on the vehicle, including aftermarket immobilisers or trackers.
  • Do not ask us to open a vehicle you are not entitled to access.

10. Complaints

Raise a complaint with us first, on 07576 937247 or complaints@carkeysnearme.co.uk. We acknowledge within one working day and aim to resolve within 10 working days, keeping you updated if an inspection is needed. If we cannot resolve it, you retain the right to escalate to Citizens Advice or the relevant UK trading standards authority.

11. Trade marks

Vehicle manufacturer names and logos shown on this website identify the vehicles we can supply keys for. We are an independent service and are not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by any vehicle manufacturer or dealer.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
